United Nations sees India increase 7.5% in 2021, expects outlook to be very fragile

The United Nations (UN) said in a final update that India has been hit particularly hard by a brutal second wave, which is overwhelming the public health system in large parts of the country. The country has expanded vaccine eligibility and increased supply in every way possible, but access to vaccines is uneven and insufficient to meet massive demand.
Given the fluid situation, India’s growth prospects in 2021 are very fragile. The UN has raised India’s growth forecast to 7.5% for calendar year 2021, an increase of 0.2% from its January projection and expects an increase of 10, 2% next year.
