Nigerian Public Office Holders Deserve Jail Sentences for Bad Governance
A former public works minister, Ambassador Ibrahim Musa Kazaure, said he, along with other Nigerian officials, deserved prison terms for his role in institutionalizing bad governance in Nigeria.
Kazaure, who spoke on a Radio France International program, claimed that Nigerian leaders are all for themselves and not for the welfare of Nigeria and Nigerians.
He added that he informed the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (Retired) about the arrests of former leaders in corruption cases and those who had embezzled public funds, including himself (Kazaure).
He said, “Even I tell you what we did in Nigeria, we deserve to be jailed.
“I used to say, I, Ibrahim Musa Kazaure, we have cheated Nigeria and its poor masses.
“The truth is that we are all the same. What we did in our time was not what we should have done, because some of us had the opportunity and some didn’t.
“Only in Nigeria does the education system keep going on strike every time. So when are we going to develop? I will no longer hold any seat in Nigeria, even if they give me free, I will not.
“I challenge everyone in the country even the President to go and check. I have spoken the truth. Whoever stole the money from Nigeria should return it. I told President Buhari that whoever stole the money from Nigeria should return it. stolen should be arrested, including myself, we should return it if proven”.
