International Day Against Drug Abuse 2021: Theme, Meaning and Facts

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime is preparing the World Drug Report which contains factual data and statistics to address the current drug problem.
The International Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking is celebrated on June 26 each year with the aim of raising awareness of drug-related issues and strengthening action and cooperation to free the world from drug abuse. .
All over the world, many people, organizations and communities come together each year on the International Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking to educate people about the problems society faces as a result of illegal drugs. .

Theme of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking 2021
This year’s theme is âSharing the Facts on Drugs, Saving Livesâ. The theme promotes the fight against disinformation and the sharing of drug-related facts as well as treatment solutions to combat the problem all over the world.
It aims to realize a science-based vision for health for all and highlights important statistics from the annual World Drug Report.
History of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking 2021
the General assembly, on December 7, 1987, decided to mark June 26 as the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking through resolution 42/112. The assembly decided to observe this day as an expression of its resolve to liberate international society from drug abuse.
