Health care, social protections and job creation need boosting: Gangwar
Labor and Employment Minister Santosh Kumar Gangwar said more support for health systems, social protections and job creation was needed to counter the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic .
On Friday evening, Mr. Gangwar was addressing the virtual meeting of labor ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement within the framework of the 109th session of the International Labor Conference.
He “reiterated India’s commitment to make all possible efforts to counter the impact of the pandemic and emerge stronger,” a statement from the Ministry of Labor said on Saturday.
Mr Gangwar said the world has experienced loss of lives and livelihoods, a downturn in the economy and a negative impact on entire sections of society, especially vulnerable sections.
“He said there is a need to ensure better support for health systems, social protection and job creation. Governments are required to face the pandemic and provide an effective response at the political level, to balance business continuity, income security and, above all, the well-being of all, he added, ”he added. he added.
He said India had administered 223 million doses of the vaccine so far as part of its COVID-19 vaccination campaign. He said there was a need to develop a new approach to working style, given the extraordinary changes that have occurred over the past year.
“The use of digital platforms has posed challenges but also provided more opportunities,” the ministry said.
