Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade introduce nephew, Dahveon Morris’ prom date in stunning image – running drama ensues
A heated debate over race emerged after Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade introduced the young woman their young nephew and future basketball star, Dahveon Morris, is dating.
It’s prom season, and Gabrielle was happy to share some photos and videos of stylish Dahveon in a black suit with her date wearing a stunning black dress.
Dahveon’s proud mother, Deanna Morris, also posed for photos to celebrate this milestone. Dwyane, who got custody of Dahveon at the age of 12, looked delighted to witness this happy moment.
Many in the African American community are upset that Dahveon is dating a white girl.
One person had this reaction: “I guess they didn’t quite follow your advice on dark skinned women ️ How your stepmom Gabrielle Union is one of the most BEAUTIFUL black women and you settle for a Becky 🥴. I’ll cry my eyes out if my son takes a white girl to anything. “
This Instagram user said race shouldn’t be discussed in a post about two happy teens going to prom and added, “See how the normal rich make the ball, you all made all moms spend saving up and doing title loans I can’t believe your focusing on her skin color in 2019 this is a girl going to prom with her date it’s simple let it be racing card apart from those horrible comments. “
This woman had this to say, “If it was white people who hated a white boy for taking a black girl, that would be so awful.” Why is it important that it is white and that it is black? I think they are both superb! Anyone who complains about the color of their skin in the comments is racist. Please don’t try to act like you aren’t. If you don’t like the fact that she is of a different ethnicity / race, you are part of the problem in this country and in the world. “
A family advocate said: “Too many people see race in this photo when they should see two HAPPY teens about to go to prom! Racism is taught! Stop adding to the problem people smh and have mercy on every individual who hates kids going to prom based on race and trying to teach our kids to do better? Look in the mirror and start with yourselves. Salty AF. 🤦🏻♀️ “
This fan explained, “Too bad not everyone could see the color of the past to see how they wanted to set an example of a blended family and make it work. That’s what’s wrong with society. “
Was this controversy necessary?
