Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Chairman of Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf as part of his official visit to Iran.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov referred to his visit to Iran in December 2020 and the cordial meeting held during the visit, and expressed the importance of reciprocal visits in the development of bilateral relations.

The minister stressed the importance of the meeting of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Iran in Ashgabat, as well as the meeting of the co-chairmen of the State Commission for economic, trade and humanitarian spheres between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran. , the visit of the Iranian Foreign Minister to Azerbaijan, the importance of telephone conversations between Foreign Ministers, the visit of the delegation of the Iranian Parliament to Azerbaijan, the development of interparliamentary relations, as well as the importance of meetings of working groups on interparliamentary relations.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov highlighted the participation of the Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Parliament in the Baku conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement.

Referring to cultural and religious fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf stressed that the development of relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran with neighboring countries is a priority issue. He stressed that the Iranian side is interested in developing economic and trade relations.

Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that Iran is always ready to support the establishment of communication links between the East Zangazur economic region and the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, and the Iranian side is determined to implement these projects. At the same time, it was expressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran is interested in participating in the reconstruction and restoration works in the East Zangazur and Karabakh economic regions of Azerbaijan.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the opposing side about the current regional situation, the proposals put forward by Azerbaijan for the establishment of peace and stability in the post-conflict period and the measures taken in this regard.

At the same time, it was noted that the liberation from the occupation of the 132-kilometer border from Azerbaijan to the border with Iran creates new opportunities for cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed other regional issues of mutual interest and stressed the importance of ensuring peace and stability in the region.
